Frequently Asked Questions

--------------------------------

What are the costs of La Luna Center’s treatment options and are they covered by insurance?

La Luna Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program is covered by many major insurance companies (percentage of coverage depends on your individual plan).  However, some insurance plans have limitations or exclusions for the treatment of eating disorders or mental health issues. Additionally, some individuals do not have insurance coverage.  In these cases, self-pay and sliding scale options are available. La Luna Center is happy to coordinate with your insurance company to determine your coverage for treatment.

Individual Therapy:

La Luna Center offers individual therapy with a variety of therapists. Therapist fees range depending on academic degree and level of experience.  Individual therapy is fee for service, meaning you pay at the time of service.  If you have mental health benefits through your health insurance, you may be reimbursed for all or part of the fee.  If you do not have mental health coverage or your coverage is poor, sliding scale and reduced fee options are available. When you call to schedule your initial consultation, we can collect your insurance information to check your benefits.

Group Therapy:

Group therapy is also fee for service, meaning you pay at the time of service. If you have mental health benefits through your health insurance, you may be reimbursed for all or part of the fee.  If you do not have mental health coverage or your coverage is poor, sliding scale and reduced fee options are available. When you call to schedule your initial consultation, we can collect your insurance information to check your benefits.

How do I determine if La Luna Center is "in-network" with my insurance company?

La Luna Center is the only treatment facility in Boulder County offering intensive treatment for eating disorders and coexisting conditions.  Therefore, we often receive a case by case accommodation to be considered "in-network" with insurance companies that may not name us on their published list.  Please contact us with your insurance information so we can determine your rate of coverage for our services.

How is the La Luna Center Intensive Outpatient Program different from other treatment programs?

La Luna Center provides a very different kind of Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Our IOP offers specialized treatment from an expert team of female therapists, psychologists, and nutritionists. IOP is our highest level of care and as a result, each participant gets the focused attention of our extensively experienced multidisciplinary treatment team. We understand that each participant has a unique struggle and we tailor treatment to the individual. We also understand that change needs to come from within. Participants in our program feel understood and supported, not pressured or forced to change.

Our IOP is a structured program that addresses the psychological, physical, and nutritional aspects of disordered eating. It offers comprehensive outpatient treatment weekday evenings beginning at nine hours a week.  The treatment schedule minimizes disruption to the daily lives of participants – allowing individuals to continue to participate in regular work, school, and family activities.

La Luna Center honors relationships that participants have previously formed with their physicians, psychologists, counselors and other helping professionals. We welcome professional input and ongoing services during the course of our treatment program.
